Puget Sound is home to Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor and Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific - what has been called the largest concentration of operational nuclear weapons (at least outside of Russia). We at Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action and the Puget Sound Nuclear Weapon Free Zone believe that "Nuclear Disarmament Begins at Home." And - We like to ask questions. Among them: "Do all these massive nuclear weapons provide any real measure of security (for anyone)?"
We invite you to stay informed on (and get involved in) what's going on right here around Puget Sound in the struggle to abolish nuclear weapons. Besides our work keeping people informed about the Trident nuclear weapons system, particularly as it relates to the Bangor submarine base, we are preparing to launch a campaign to stop construction of the next generation ballistic missile submarine (12 submarines will cost nearly $100 billion just to build, will perpetuate the proliferation of nuclear weapons worldwide, and will increase the risk of nuclear war).
